Classes

Flutter Productions registration is now open, enroll today to attend a full day class schedule for individuals served by Black Hills Works, once weekly for $35.00 a day.

 

Payment will be by tuition or

Requested Donated Funds (scholarship).

HOW:

To enroll, contact your ISC (Internal Service Coordinator) to enroll through Setmore.

Attendees may select one day either:

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday

to attend.

Classes will be taking place in between our workshops and the summer 2023 production. 

Your ISC will have a detailed schedule to provide you with. 

Attendees will need to bring a sack lunch, and a resealable water bottle for the day.

WHAT:

In a full day, Flutter attendees will attend up to four classes in a single day, including: 

Creative Writing 10:30 - 11:25 AM,

Creative Design 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Acting 1:00 - 1:55 PM

Creative Movement 2:00 - 2:45 PM

Yes, an individual can enroll half a day, or for one class at $8.75 per class.

Attendance & Cancellation Policy:

If one enrolls, they will still be invoiced regardless of attendance.  In the event of weather or other cancellations, makeup days or classes will not be offered at this time.

Workshops

Four exciting, evening, week long workshops will be offered in 2023 for individuals served by

Black Hills Works.

#1 -DANCING QUEEN & KING WORKSHOP

February 6 - 10, 2023 

February 6, 7, 8 and 10 6:00 – 9:00 PM

at Flutter Productions

February 9 7:30 – 10:00 at the Monument

COST: $165.00    

Be the dancing Queen or King! Spend a week learning: choreography, tunes, and related visual arts activities from one of the most uplifting dance bands of all time, ABBA.  Participants will attend a live performance, “MANIA: The ABBA Tribute,” at the Monument in Rapid City. 

 

#2 - MUSICAL THEATRE MOVEMENT WORKSHOP

March 13 – 18, 2023

Performing Arts Center of Rapid City

COST: $165.00 

Do-Whop, kick lines, gospel, and disco all come together in the famous movie and Broadway musical, “Sister Act.”  Spend a week learning a variety of movements genres and how they are used in  Broadway musicals.  Participants will attend a live performance of the musical, “Sister Act,” at the end of the week at Black Hills Community Theater. 

  

#3 -  TAP WORKSHOP

July 17 – 21, 2023

    July 17 – 20, 6:00 – 9:00 PM

at Flutter Productions 

July 21 6:00 – 10:30 PM

(includes driving time to and from the BHP)

 COST: $165.00 

Shuffle off to Buffalo with a time step. Spend a week learning the basics of tap dancing, and how tap is used in a variety of musicals.

Participants will also learn about the different character types traditionally represented in musicals. The week culminates in the trip to the Black Hills Playhouse to see a live performance of the musical, “The Drowsy Chaperone.”  Participants will receive a pair of tap shoes to keep.

  

#4 - WORKSHOP

  September, 2023

Mike started playing guitar and mandolin over 40 years ago. He’s played in several bands including: String Thaw, Landslide, and Acoustic collision covering a number of genres such as Celtic, bluegrass, folk,

and soft rock. He’s also appeared in a few Flutter Production performances and has worked behind the scenes as a volunteer in our scene shop.

WHAT:
A two person band by Linda Carpenter and Rex Fields playing a variety of sing-a-long and old-time dance music - bringing many a polka and waltz tune along with them.
Audience participation in the forms of singing and dancing are welcome.
Rex plays bass guitar and harmonica and Linda plays: keyboard, ukulele, clarinet, and saxophone. Rex and Linda are occasionally joined by other instrumentalists in the community who play: violin, clarinet, guitar, accordion, and trumpet.​

Concerts alternate between Flutter Productions and Plant Street. 
Side Note: When in the Flutter Productions area, dancing is welcome, but dancers must remove their street shoes when on the black floor.

#4 - 2023 Summer Show
